The band started out in 2003 when drummer Martin and keyboardist Joakim formed the threepiece that would later become Chains. At the time they were rehearsing in Martin’s basement and recorded a few basement tapes, but along with new bandmembers joining they decided to move to a real rehearsalplace. Gabriel was the first new member to join the band, just 6 months after its start, on leadguitar. Antonio was next in the beginning of 2005, taking over the vocals. In the end of 2005 Sebastian replaced their old guitarplayer and the lineup as we know it today was almost completed. With a new stronger lineup the band decided to record a demo, this time for real. The result was Set Me On Fire, consisting of three songs.
After recording the three new songs the band decided to start playing live more frequent and spent the whole year on playing on different places, aswell as writing new material for their upcoming demo. The next demo, Life of Misery, was recorded around Christmas in 2006 and around that time the band decided to bring in a new member on bass – Matthias – and today’s lineup was completed. More gigs were played in the spring of 2007 and new songs evolved which lead to another demo, Burning Desire, in may 2007. With the new demo the band got a new name – the name Chains hadn’t been used until then – and also a new sound with the two tracks Burning Desire and Place Of Divine. Shortly after the demo new songs were written and by the fall of 2007 all old songs except the two from Burning Desire had been abandoned.
After a few months of giging with the new songs the band decided to record their 4th demo, called You Can Never Break The Chains in early january 2008...
