HOW CLASSICAL MUSIC MET THE BLUES
...this Japanese fellow shows up in 1966 and wants my band - Siegel-Schwall - to jam with his band. His band was the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and he was conductor Seiji Ozawa. THE RECORDING THAT STARTED IT ALL
Three Pieces for Blues Band and Symphony was recorded in 1971 on the paramount of classical labels, Deutsche Grammophon, with the San Francisco Symphony, conductor Seiji Ozawa and the Siegel-Schwall Band. This prompted a second release with Ozawa and the San Francisco Symphony in 1979 titled "Street Music: A Blues Concerto", with Corky as soloist.
After going out of print many years ago, both recordings were recently re-released on a single CD.
