Chan.nel Karama Limited, is a hybrid of couture and street fashions. Its the premiere clothing line for the fashionista of metropolis, who runs to catch the subway train in 4 inch stilettos ! Our message to clientele is a simple yet irresistable, "Just be you but, be the best YOU, you can be!"
ABOUT THE DESIGNER/CEO||
San Francisco native, LaToya Skinner, exhibits a broad range of talents based in the fashion industry. Skinner began freelance wardrobe styling, in 2003, working with various fashion entities, such as Chanel, Nordstrom and Betsey Johnson, for their San Francisco/ Bay Area boutiques. She, then, began to create a line of clothing based upon her own fascinations of intermingling the flair of vintage clothing and the individualism of a hip hop, metropolistic culture. Being from the diverse city of San Francisco, She saw that this genre of fashion was left vacant in her cities eclectic fashion scene. Her items have been featured in multiple media outlets such as the 2006 BET Awards, Uptown Style Weekly, Yo! TV, in various magazines and on the runways in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
LaToya Skinner is also a freelance writer, who writes under the alias L. Channel Skinner, who has contributed monthly editorials of fashion and pop culture to CityFlight Magazine's Fashion & Beauty pages and also a number of other publications.
Skinner is co-owner of an event marketing and production company, called UEG, LP and co-founder of a non-profit called, Unity Entertainment Group, which provides young people career experience in the fields of fashion, entertainment, art and media. Along with her business partner, Ebony Colbert, they produce a number of community events and fashion shows in promotion of community awareness and knowledge of the Arts. Together they have contributed to the production of a number of shows and photo projects, which includes performances by rappers Too Short, Champ Bailey and Dwayne Wiggins of TonyToniTone.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Carmena Victoria, born and raised in San Francisco, has the fashion world cornered with the various talents she hordes. She wows her clients with her unique approach to image consulting, where she transforms her subjects on every level and brings forth that superstar that lives in us all. Carmena is currently studying Broadcasting/Production, and Fashion Merchandising at San Francisco State University. Working as a street team member of the Bay Area’s Hottest Hip Hop and R&B radio station 106KMEL, she is gaining valuable experience in her respective field of study. Carmena Victoria has the ability to capture the attention of a room with her own personal style, and as the assistant to the CEO and Director of Operations, she will undoubtedly help take Chan.nel Karama Limited to new heights!
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY
Robyn Nicholle, of B.A.M.ind||Photography, Modeling, & Graphics and ilLUSTER designs, is our newest addition to the Chan.nel Karama Team. Her work exhibits an inimitable retrospective of pop art nouveau that's all her own! While drawing inspiration from her own lifestyle and the iconic free-spirit culture bread by her hometown, San Francisco, she also studies the works of David Lachapelle, Andy Warhol, and Jean Basquiat.
