After messing with some solo guitar-vocals for a few years and sharing stages with Morphine and the Dresden Dolls, Pennsylvanian Nathan Symes looked to the other side of the Atlantic. No need to look long in Strasbourg (France) to find some solid musicians who would follow him to the darkest of his territories.
Chapel Hill shapes songs between indie rock, dried out folk and shameless country in which America isn’t always the good guy. But these are only a natural base, an ideal background on which Nathan -whose strong voice can go so far as to evoke Johnny Cash, Nick Cave or Jim Morrison- puts down with conviction his original compositions and inner universe, solemn and tormented at times, and always impeccably served by his excellent musicians.
Chapel Hill is currently recording its long-awaited first album to be released in October 2008.
Après avoir tâté du solo guitare-voix quelques années, écumé les salles de concert bostoniennes et partagé des scènes avec Morphine et les Dresden Dolls, Nathan Symes le pennsylvanien a lorgné de l'autre côté de l'Atlantique. Pas besoin de fouiller longtemps à Strasbourg pour trouver des musiciens solides, prêts à embarquer dans ses contrées insoupçonnées.
Chapel Hill construit des morceaux entre rock indé, folk asséchée et country assumée, dans lesquels les Américains n'ont pas toujours le bon rôle. Mais il ne s'agit là que d'une base naturelle, d'un background idéal sur lesquels Nathan (dont la voix et la puissance peuvent aller jusqu'à évoquer par moments Johnny Cash, Nick Cave ou Jim Morrison) installe avec conviction ses compositions originales et son univers personnel, grave et tourmenté parfois, impeccablement servi par ses excellents musiciens. Chapel Hill enregistre actuellement un attendu premier album qui sortira en octobre 2008.
Hello Chapel Hill. Merci pour l’invit et pour le passage par mon myspace. Je suis un peu à la traîne pour accepter mais je fais plusieurs choses en mm temps et voilà mais je pense que l’on en est tous au mm point. J’ai écouté vos titres dans leur intégralité et j’ai bien aimé surtout « When the lights beg » - « Poor uncle Louis » et « Could this be the end » mais ce qui ne veux pas dire que les 3 autres sont nuls, je préfère moins tout simplement. Welcome on my friends liste ou vous pouvez trouvez différents genres musicaux car j’aime tout cela. Je suis assez fan de batterie, de métal / rock et j’aime écouter aussi des belles voix. Je vous souhaite bonne continuation avec Chapel Hill et de bonnes fêtes de la musique.
