A duo with a chick drummer and a guy singer/guitarist - yep The Chaperones have had one or two inferences to The White Stripes and really who can deny this is a complement for the Sydney two-piece!

Bunkering down in Mona Vale for an Easter long weekend of recording, the upcoming release of their second EP ‘Trigger Man’ was produced by Ryan Hazell (Sparkadia, The Black Water Fever, FOH for The Drones, Van She, The Fumes) and brings five brand new tracks that captures the energy of their live show and punctuates their song writing strengths…a potent mix of dirty garage rock with infectious melodies and lyrics.

Gigging for almost two years now Marissa and Matt met through a mutual friend and a week later they were jamming. When it didn’t work out between the three of them, Matt and Marissa decided they had something together and after a few months rehearsing with a few guitarists and bass players that didn’t quite fit, they thought…if other two piece bands can do it, then why not! They both agree it certainly works for them and it would be weird with another member now, and so The Chaperones were born!

Like most bands they studied at university (degrees they hope not to use) with one working in a bottle shop & the other in a record store to show their dedication to make music and scrape enough money together to record. Their second EP ‘Trigger Man’ has brought them a long way from the stepping stone of their self titled debut EP. It captures where the band has come from, where they are now and where they are going perfectly, a natural progression from the first.

Originally they decided that a band was a great way to hang out with their friends and hopefully get free drinks. Now not much has changed...except they do it in front of people and sometimes get paid!

From a gig in Canberra where half their set was played in complete darkness (thanks to an inexperienced sound engineer), to selling out Sydney venue Ruby Rabbit on their first EP launch and a queue of people 40 deep who were turned away The Chaperones are a band to sit up and take notice of!

On their debut EP The Chaperones received strong community radio airplay all over the country, and even a spin on Triple J. Title track and first single from their second EP ‘Trigger Man’ is set to establish the same pattern for the band! No stranger to playing indie venues around town, they will continue to delight music punters on an east coast tour in support of the release of the ‘Trigger Man’ EP in early August.

‘Trigger Man’ EP is available in stores and on iTunes from early August thru Green Media/MGM and will be launching at Spectrum on Saturday 23, August

“It’s hard to believe that a two-piece can create such a full sound, a real song writing credit" - Mockingbyrd Music (www.mockingbyrdmusic.com)

"Shows mastery of remarkably different styles...good fun, with a lot of promise" - Drum Media

"A hot new rock band worth keeping on your radar" - 9 to 5 Magazine
