   About Chapter Three

Chapter Three is made up of a handful of songwriting friends who, after hanging out and playing music together for the better part of a year, decided to combine efforts and form a trio. Each member brings something different to the band, thus creating a sonic environment combining musical styles and lush vocal harmonies.

Chapter Three was just nominated for two 2008 Wammie Awards. Their CD, "Synopsis" was nominated for best Contemporary Folk Recording, and the trio was also nominated for best Contemporary Folk Duo/Group. In addition, the trio just released a NEW CD, "Unabridged", which will be available at live shows and will soon be for sale on CD Baby.

Michelle Murray has been playing guitar and composing songs for over twenty years, combining the sounds of folk, country, and a touch of the blues. Her latest CD, Michelle Murray: Collection of Songs, was nominated for a 2006 Wammie award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording and in 2005, her Waters Edge CD Make a Choice, was nominated in the same category.

She has performed at numerous venues and festivals in the Washington D.C. area and her music has aired on WETA-FM (on the "Traditions" show) and on WRNR-FM. Throughout her years of performing, Michelle has opened shows for popular folk artists such as John Gorka and David Massengill.

Michelle currently serves on the board of and hosts an open mike for the Songwriter's Association of Washington.

Andrew Coupe grew up in northern England during the 60s and 70s and has been an ardent rhythm, blues, and folk fan all his life. He’s been writing songs and playing guitar and singing for nearly forty years, playing at UU Coffeehouses, church events, and various local venues. His favorite styles of music are blues, contemporary folk, jazz, ragtime, R&B, and rock. Andrew also plays drums and other percussion which influences his own styles and interests. He released Redemption Arcade in 2007 with his other project, Tyfoo.

Raised in Virginia and Maryland, Rick Callender started writing songs ever since he picked up the guitar over twenty years ago. While living in the Midwest for 13 years, he cut his musical teeth refining his songwriting craft and playing in a myriad of bands, festivals, and musical projects. His songs have been acclaimed for their vivid imagery and unique musical approach. Rick’s very eclectic taste in music—largely inspired by the golden age of college radio during the late ‘70s-’80s—adds a fresh ingredient to the trio’s musicality.

He has released two CDs, the fully orchestrated Undone in 1998 and the sparse Spark in 2000, a collection of songs recorded live in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

I would like to thank you for accepting me as you friend. Some of my friends I know personally, others I know only by their music and the influence that it had upon my soul and my own musical abilities. Thank you for being who you are!!!! Charlie
