Charity (meaning ‘Love’) was born into a family of 7, with 2 Minister parents.
Like many of the world’s great musicians, Charity was brought up in the Church. Regularly performing in front of large crowds from a young age, Charity developed all of the skills required to become a successful musician. She began writing music at age 6, and at 9 took up the drums. Under the guidance of Billy Hyde’s Drum Academy, she quickly became 1 of Australia’s leading female drummers, regularly placing in National drum-offs.
During 1 studio session, John "Rotten" Lydon - lead singer Sex Pistols, happened to walk past whilst she was recording and popped in to tell her that she was the best female drummer he’d ever heard. Such a compliment is not lost on a shy schoolgirl!
This is 1 of the most intriguing things about Charity – she is a fantastic singer/songwriter, but also a hugely talented drummer.
From an early age, Charity toured remote areas of the Philippines and India (where there is an orphanage named after her).
During her school years she formed an all-girl band and recorded music with ‘Southern Songs’. After school she relocated to Broome, where she wrote music and enjoyed life in the balmy tropics.
After a lifetime of travelling, and a multicultural family (her dad is Kiwi, her brother-in-law Sudanese and her sister-in-law Filipino), Charity is open minded and genuinely empathetic to the plight of others.
Over the years, Charity has had many fantastic opportunities (including having ‘Sacrificed’ played as the soundtrack for an SBS documentary on teenage suicide).
She is now looking for the right producer for her EP. In the meanwhile, she will continue writing, performing and recording music. Thanks for visiting, your feedback is appreciated.
