Born in Nancy, France, in February 1956.
Graduate from the National School of Fine Arts in Nancy, France in 1980. CharlElie is one of the founding members of “multism”, (or "pluralism"); artists who seek interconnections between the different forms of..image, writing, and music).
In 1981, he starts up the group “Local à Louer”, (“Place for rent”) in Nancy, as an association bringing together photographers, painters and poets. That same year he publishes the famous poster known as “Proclamation of Art Rock”
Over span of 25 years, CharlElie has released 23 original music albums, numerous books of reflexions poetry and novels, had 80 exhibitions of paintings, photographs and drawings, ( France, in Belgium, Switzerland and the United States.)
CharlElie prints posters, draws logos, designs watches, created a collection of shoes and composed more than fifteen original soundtracks for films (one was of which “The moderns” of Alan Rudolph).
Fascinated by the new possibilities of expressions that Internet network seemed to offer, CharlElie was one in the pioneers of the Web in France, and created CharlElie.com in 1996, to be in permanent touch with his fan base and to further his artistic expression.
Parallel to his fame as a musician, (5 gold records, 1500 concerts and internationals tours), CharlElie continues his research in painting, sculpture and photography.
Always an innovator, CharlElie is once again re-inventing himself. this time in the middle of the city that loves risk-takers… New York. He moved his family and studio to Manhattan in 2003, distancing himself from the limelight and show-business world of Paris, to explore his creative freedom in a new country and a new continent.
Brick by brick, CharlElie is building his new home… an immense construction devoted to creation. For him, there are no borders, neither between people, nor ideas. All flows from a single source-- but that Inspiration can come from everywhere and anywhere.
Today, free from his exclusive image of music star in France, CharlElie is acquiring recognition from the American Art scene and collectors
The life of the great artists is made up of mysteries, shades and shadows. CharlElie's path, his sphinx's eternal rebirth , is best paraphrased by his favorite saying:
“One must unceasingly rebuild his life as one rebuilt the Temple.”
