Langston Hughes, "Suicide's Note"
The Calm,
Cool face of the river
Asked me for a Kiss.
I read this poem a few days ago in class,(AP/IB English Literature and Composition) and it is so simply beautiful.
To me, I read about departure and reunion in this poem...
The departure from reality and reunion with the other side, a happier place. It is a departure of pain, hooks, letters, grievances, lies, and reunion with the self; You were hurt, you cried, you were angry...
He/She hurt you, They made you cry, They made you angry. It was she who hooked and sank you. It was he who drove his pike right through you...
Let go of the hooks in your hands and Put them away in your closet.
Look at yourself, at the face in the mirror, and give yourself a kiss.
You deserve it. Have a happy reunion with yourself and take yourself through your dreams. ...no matter what any religion tells...You have the choice to look, to discover, to dream, to create, and to live(etc.)
.. .. but never forget the hooks that made you as strong as you are today.
So far this is what I've learned about me
By the way I love art:
I love to create beauty through any form but so far I only have my hand in the Visual Arts(site+)
But I will learn in the Musical/Vocal, Theatrical, and Written Arts. Well i have something written: it is a short story known as A Forgotten Pulse and you can read it in my deviantart account here
