Musician all my life, drums at nine years old played first gig in a rock band at 11 years. Later, guitar, bass, keys & singer songwriter.
Born in Tulsa moved to Oklahoma City then San Antonio and Dallas Tx (during the rein of KLIF Radio & Gordon McLendon). High school in Slidell, LA then New Orleans.
After playing in some cover type bands for extra cash in high school, move to New Orleans and jammed around with different musicians (including Little Queenie).
Met Russel Jobear through a classified ad and clicked right off doing New York Dolls type stuff (1973-74) lost contact was found again 2 years later and was asked to join New Orleans first punk band(1976) "Ultrex" with Eddie St. Pe singing (turned weather man, now owns TV stations around Jackson, Miss) Russel on guitar(now in Angola, LA state prison), Randall Gary on Bass, me on drums.
Opened up the NY Dolls in 75 or 76 at Cords Underground (closed the next day). Eddie then left and was replace by Brad Ogeron. After asking to have my songs concidered and being refused, I quit and joined up with another local punk guy Steve Walters (later Cowboy Mouth) who happend to have a pet shop in my rehersal space and formed a band with David Brewton and Crhis Luckett (later Dash Rip Rock) as just the singer at first, eventually becoming singer/songwritter/guitar player for New Orleans seminal suburban punk band "THE NORMALS".
The Normals opened for Patty Smith, Iggy Pop, Ramones, Robert Gordon(with Link Wray), Squeeze, B-52's, John Cale, Talking Heads, were scheduled to open for the Sex Pistols in Baton Rouge but were canceled at the last moment for "Rockin Dopsey" a local Zydeco legion.
The Normals were given comp ticketts to attend this rare show and were included in Malcom McClarens movie "D.O.A". After opening for the Police, Ian Copeland (Stuart Copeland's brother) booked them on a tour opening for 999 in the north east and the Normals moved to New York in 1978.
.... The Normals played Max's, CBGB's, Hurrahs etc. When the band moved back down to New Orleans, I decided to move to Philly with my then girlfriend, slept on the floors of her friends apartments for a while. Played drums for "The Flys" for a short time, eventually put together my own group; singer/songwriter for CLUB OF ROME...we opened for Gang of Four, Killing Joke, Bush Tetras. Later I formed Mercury/PolyGram recording artists THE VELS at the request of Tom Sokol who opened the Love Club, which I lived above. We opened for Thompson Twins, Berlin, Pretenders, OMD, ....
The Vels released two Albums "Velocity" and "House of Miracles" along with 3 or 4 dance singles. Toured with Pychedelic Furs after the release of the movie "Pretty In Pink". When the Vels were dropped, after engineering and producing at a local Phila recording studio (Queeen Village) I moved back to NYC in 1988, with my then girlfriend Alice (Cohen) Desoto, a local NYC familiar. Played lead guitar for SHAG MOTOR PONY, check it out... http://www.myspace.com/shagmotorpony
opened for White Zombie, Rageing Slab, Circus of Power. Played bass for LOUDSPEAKER 1st or 2nd album, played with Surgery, Unsane toured Europe with Honey Moon Killers. Joined CHROME CRANKS (first album) on drums and built the now closed Fun House Studios for them.
Became disenchanted with being a musican and working at night as a soundman and decided to race bicycles, became a road bike fanatic, training 4 to 5 hours a day, doing 80 miles on my bike going to Nyack and back to NYC.
When the last club I did sound for closed (Elbow Room on Bleeker) I became a NYC bike messenger, figuring I could work and get in my training at the same time.
That lasted for 1 1/2 years until I got hit by a limo while not working but coming back from a bike messenger roof deck party in Brooklyn on a Sunday evening in August.
When I was stuck in bed for 6 months with a broken knee and shoulder, in between playing "X-Box" on Hydrocodicone, cognac and oreo's, I gathered all my tunes and decided I could be a DJ.
Which ended up working out for me, DJ'ing Friday and Saturday nights at "151" on Rivington, Lotus, Les Effant & Motor City (hair bands, 60's garage, alt rock, metal and 70's rock) I was also DJ'ing and doing sound at 169 Bar, which came up for sale and I ended up buying with the insurance money from the limo hit...(located at East Broadway and Essex) So here I am...

He's touring with Napoleon Murphy Brock from Frank Zappa's band playing ZAPPA music from the 1970's. I'll be in town around 3PM and the gig starts at 8PM. I think the address is 214 Sullivan street, near the intersection of Bleeker and Sullivan. I have no idea what your work schedule is like, or if you can trust anyone to run your bar when you are not there; BUT.... If you can make it, it will be worth your while to see these kids play. THEY ARE AWESOME! I would love to introduce you to my son. You 2 have a lot in common and your perspective on the Music Biz might enlighten him quite a bit. Anyway, Miss you old Bud. Hope to see you soon. If you think you can make it (Or Not) my cell phone number is 302-588-9479. I promise I will visit you next time I'm in NYC. Be well and take care. BOBo
