In 2006 Charlesbridge produced its first major motion picture, Wiggle and Waggle. The critically acclaimed film took risks that no other animated picture had done before, delving deep below the surface of the garden to explore the struggles and joys of two earth worms, Wiggle and Waggle.
This season Charlesbridge is proud to release another much-anticipated film for the book, After Gandhi: One Hundred Years of Nonviolent Resistance, by Anne Sibley O'Brien and Perry Edmond O'Brien. Check it out below and to the right, or visit our page on YouTube at www.youtube.com/user/Charlesbridge1 and don't forget to Pass the Peace!

CHUCKBRIDGE WORKER BEE OF THE MONTH!
Tracy Pilla: Office Manager (i.e. the backbone of the company)
1. What is your all-time favorite non-Charlesbridge kids' book?
My fave non-CB book is "Gus was a Friendly Ghost" by Jane Thayer. Gus was my father's nickname, so it has a special place in my heart, and I also read it over and over again when I was little. (My sister gave me the nickname "bookworm" when I was about 7 because all I did was read - and now look at me - I work for a children's publisher!)
2. If you could implement one new fun change at Charlesbridge what would it be?
My fun new change would be that each employee would get to have a "free" day off on their birthday each year. :o)
3. If you could have one super-human power, which power would you have?
I would love to have the power to heal those suffering from illness. I hate to see people in pain.
Charlesbridge publishes high-quality books for children, with a goal of creating lifelong readers and lifelong learners. Our books encourage reading and discovery in the classroom, library, and home. We believe that books for children should offer accurate information, promote a positive world view, and embrace a child's innate sense of wonder and fun.
2009 marks Charlesbridge's 20th anniversary! That's right, Charlesbridge was born in 1989 and has flourished as a children's publisher over the years. We've set up a wall on our blog (http://charlesbridge.blogspot.com/2009/03/sign-wall.html) where you can post your thoughts and comments about Charlesbridge, or just wish us happy birthday if you want. For every comment we receive, we'll donate a book to ReadBoston, a local literacy organization! We're also organizing a book drive for ReadBoston during the months of April and May. Drop books off at our offices (85 Main Street, Watertown, MA 02460) or buy on our website and put our address in the "ship to" section. We're matching every book we receive with one of our own!
Watch the slideshow below to see images from our spring 2009 list and visit Charlesbridge's website at www.charlesbridge.com to preview each book separately or order them for yourself.
