About me:
My Name is Charles Champin and this is my personal Gallery of art. I've done a bit of everything over the years, from Portraits, Animation, Tattoo Design, Tattooing, and even a touch of web page design. I guess the reason I’m here is for the longest time my mom told me to start showing my art to someone other then her. :) I didn’t really see the point, and kept putting it off. On Feb 1st 2008 my mom told me she may have pancreatic cancer, and was going to fight it if she did. Well...she did have it. After that I tried to spend every waking moment I could with her. Her condition got very bad, very fast, and her fight with cancer ended 3 months later very painfully. In my mom’s precious last days, I held her hand every day while she laid there un-able to even get out of the hospital bed which sat in her living room now. I made a promise to her while she lay there, I kept saying to her, whispering in her ear "Mom, I love you, and I’m here, I will try, I will try and show the world what I do, I promise!" In the evenings when she was asleep, I would sneak back home, and do some work on a portrait I was doing for her, it was a surprise. I did her favorite person "Elvis Presley" When I finished the Portrait, I rushed back over to her home to give it to her first thing in the morning, and show her she finally got her Elvis! Which she had been asking for, for sooo long. That morning when I opened the picture for her, she just laid there staring at it, no expression, not a word, she just stared straight through it. It was at that moment I realized, I was too late. She didn’t even know what I was holding. I had to walk out of the room, so she wouldn’t see me break down, I just couldn't stop the tears from coming. That was the day I realized, don’t ever put off today, what may be way too late tomorrow.

I was recently asked if "KEN CHAMPIN" was any relation to me. Well the answer is yes. My Grandfather was Ken Champin the animator from Warner Bros. classic animation. He worked all thru the 30's and into the 80's before his passing in 1989. My grandfather worked on sooo many original classic greats from Warner bros., now when I see bugs bunny, and daffy duck, I see my family. :)
I still to this day, see his name on tv. And it always makes me smile. :) If you are interested to know more about Ken Champin,..and the amazing list of Warner "Classic Cartoons" he worked on, there are several sites on the web now. Just google him. :) So yes he is, and yes Im very very proud to say it. Rest In Peace Grandad!

Language... has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone. - Paul Tillich The holiday season is a time when we are especially conscious of missing those we have lost due to death, distance, or family conflict.
