I'm still a London based Bass player returning to performing after a twelve year hiatus.
I started playing over 25 years ago and worked my way up through the London live music scene, including a fabulous apprenticeship with the never to be forgotten Steve Waller. Eventually (as everyome else seemed to get their chance) I got nabbed to play bass for Paul Young and enjoyed a hundred or so gigs with him round the World as Pino Palladinos replacement.
I bought an upright about four years ago, smuggled it home and managed to persuade my wife that this huge thing would bring wealth and approbation, I'm still working on it.
I'm loving playing again. I had to really start out all over, get the chops up to speed, go out and play jams, answer ads and hassle old friends.
This year (2009) I'm determined to put together a couple of musical projects that have been brewing for a while, a jazz piano trio and a TV theme band.
I'm about to put up a Steve Waller track that was sent to me a few days ago, recorded live maybe around 1990. 'Take good care of my baby', I'm not sure if it's me on bass but sod that (I've since stuck a bass on it in one take mode), the track beautifully captures the big man, his joyous voice, humour and big heart, bloody marvellous.

Steve Waller? Was he a guitarist? Did you play with him at The Cricketers in 1980? That was a PLACE! MorriseyMullen, Breakfast Band with Annise Hadeed and Kuma Harada, Alan Murphy and SFX! Chris Hunter! Bobby Valentino and that bloke from Hot Chocolate.
Hey Kevin, I'm REALLY looking forward to hearing what you do with Deeper Still, though if you play it as a bop tune at 220 bpm, I may have to kill you ;)
