I have learned through reading a book called Neotech how important it is to be a producer of values. In order to survive and build self esteem it is very important to help others but you cannot be altruistic and give your self away all the time. This will only tear you down and weaken you. Focus on solving problems and try to stay in the material world and leave the professional mystics like dishonest reporters clergymen and people like that to their own destructive behavior.
