Drawing from his penchant for folk, alt-country and indie rock, Charles Tilden has just recorded his first record as a solo artist: FICTION/FRICTION. The EP features songs about some of Charles' favourite narratives (e.g. Animal Farm, Denys Arcand's Jesus de Montreal) and others exploring good ol' heartbreak and philosophical struggles.
As a live performer, Charles' syncopated guitar style and tenor voice are in constant flux. His solo performances are intimate conversations and his full-band shows (with the Phantom Limbs) are a party.
i had to rocket from the show earlier than i wanted...i caught the first half up to holden and then jetted like a paul mccartney tune. however everything was pure awesome. i mean 605% awesome. and that's a lot of awesome, believe you me. i'm looking forward to hearing the album that i just bought. it's a paul mccartney album. oh, wait, no it's your album. huzzah!
long time no see. I hope all is well. Just finished my first album, which will be printed soon. Exciting. Let me know if you've got fun things going on, so I can make an appearance.
anyone who tosses some accordion into a song makes it onto my all-time top ten best things that ever happened to humanity list. which is actually now over a hundred items long...so i'm really stretching the definition of top ten. anyway, the point is, is, that you've got some great tunes and what you ought to do is lease them to me so i can make myself famous. i promise i'll give them back... also, your dance moves rival the great sir james brown, and what's more: your hair is shinier than most people's. these things combined make you better than applesauce, which is pretty f'in sweet.
yo whats up charles, i was in that class/ met you in dominion on monday- your tunes on your myspace are great dude! likely see you this evening at the press club
cheers,
Just a quick thought. I was wondering if you would ask Jake if he'd be interested in writing for The Emancipator as well? I think he'd be a great addition if he's up to it.
Thanks!
Jordo
P.S. The site should be up by mid-october/early november, we might be getting someone to design it for us now.
Hey Charles, we've never actually met -- but I am a friend of Steph's... I like your stuff, man. Very good (Lake Michigan rocks!). I also like that you like Sondre Lerche -- there aren't alot of people who know or appreciate real Norwegian music! Anyways. I've got some stuff if you wanted to check out -- on, my band's page, and on my "side project" page.
ooooooooi, i guess its getting late to fix your site up eh? well...I'm coming to your place tonight before the planning party, so maybe we can put some time into it tonite....
