After the breakup of my first band The Dead Girls in 2004 I spent the next couple of years drifting, generally having a good time and recording 2 little albums called Hallucinations & Delusions and Violet Rain Strokes The Sea. They only feature my voice, guitar and a sprinkle of overdubs minus drums as I find they can occasionally be too intrusive.
While I was recording Violet Rain a new band fell together with my close friends Nick Mellon, Bob Shields & David Gillespie which we called Nazca Plain. Heavily influenced by Acid Mothers Temple, Pink Floyd and Can our gigs were fierce splashes of pulsating screams and continuous liquid psychedelic music. Often playing on the same bills as laddish "indie" bands it was always a pleasure to see so many vain faces staring blankly at the stage. Sadly we fell apart around Christmas 2007 although we might get together one afternoon to record an album of blistering white noise...
In July 2008 I released my third solo album called Ivory Serpents & The Starving Tree on Northampton based SkyEyeSea Records who are very kindly going to reissue Hallucinations and Violet Rain.
After a few upheavals my latest band of psychedelic reprobates The Neon Pop Orchestra have crawled back out of the abyss and are smearing our ramshackle psychedelia around the British Isles once again. We've just completed our debut release called The Howl E.P which will be coming out later in 2009.
