Charlie Brown began performing and writing at a young age, and taught himself to sing by listening to the Motown artists of the 80's and 90's. Growing up in South London and being a keen follower of popular music meant that Charlie was able to develop a unique fusion of old skool soul, with a brit pop sensibilty! This, combined with his love of classic songwriting, along with his ability to blow up the stage, is what sets Charlie apart from the pack, and injects his solo material with so much style and swagger!
He began honing his writing skills in 2003 when he penned his first publishing deal with Simon Fuller at 19 Songs. This enabled him to begin developing great working relationships with a host of up and coming, as well as A-list, songwriters and producers. Since then, his soulful melodies, combined with that pop sensibility, have seen him travel to Denmark, Sweden, L.A, New York, Atlanta and Canada to be a part of many exciting projects.
This summer, Charlie can be found as a featured artist and credited co-writer on the up-coming Sincere feat. Kid Bass single signed to Relentless records here in the UK.
One of his most exciting collaborations to date comes in the form of The Rain, where Charlie teams up with hit makers, Bless beats and Wiley to produce an explosive mixture of grime, rap, and soulful melodies, all laced over a banging beat that is sure to be blowing up club dance floors across the UK this summer! (Single dropping in September!!!!! Watch this space!!!)
This track is what bought Charlie to the attention of RWD magazine earlier this year which led them to feature him in their 'one to watch' section of the Jan/Feb edition! The first of many spotlights to shine on the young singer Charlie Brown... your "ONE TO WATCH" for 2009! Charlie can also be found in the June '09 issue of RWD magazine as their 'Bout to blow' feature!
