1980’s – Indie bands in London. Best known are Wandering Souls. Releases on Last Moments Records were “Dogs in the night/I don’t mind”, “Lots of Change” (compilation).
Result – back to college.
1990’s – Freelance keyboards. Elvis on tour(with Johny Dumper & the Jordanaires), Linda Gail Lewis, The Boogie Band, John Warwick All Stars.
Recordings – Into the Wild Blue Yonder (1993). Soon to appear on this site as 'The Electric Sessions'.
2000’s – More freelance keyboards- John Warwick All Stars, Otis Grand, Osibisa, Richie Milton & The Lowdown, etc The Big 6.
Recordings - Rhythm & Roll by the Boogie Band. I played piano for them for about 3 years & we did some great shows. Some great songwriting on here by bassist Paul Sharman & guitarist Spike Jones. I do a cover of Jerry Lee's 'Wine' & one of my songs 'Joanne Joanne'. Smoky Rooms 2002. I got Derek Mandel from the 60's All Stars to help me with this & we managed to recruit Pete Shaw on bass & Ed Spevock on drums, 2 of the best session men available, & recorded it on tape.
Songs for Daniel 2005. This was based on the live show we were doing round London & we wanted something live sounding. Of course, by the time the session came up I'd written lots more songs, hence the name, after the minidisc where I stuck the songs as they were written.
Even the bad times are good 2007 .About the time I did the Songs for Daniel album I sort've inherited a rock band which did a few gigs but did'nt satisfy me so I got Daniel & Mark Hawkins on guitar & we did this, also down at Scream in Croydon. Great engineering by Dave Eve, violin by Sarah Harrison, harmonica by Peter Golding.
Current - working-mostly in London. Let me elaborated a little. Over the past 5 years I've played or jammed with most of the greats I used to watch as a 10-year-old. Mick from the Kinks, Derek Mandel who was with George Harrison & is probably the best all-round musician I know, John Warwick who is the best blues-soul singer in the UK, Osibisa, who are some of the scariest & sharpest musicians I've ever met. I was even called up to be in a blues super-group with Peewee Ellis & Kim Mazelle & Skip Macdonald, but the gig never eventuated. Along the way I've done gigs with Pete Dougherty & Babyshambles, Alabama3, played the piano at Hugh Heffner's 80th birthday, Ross Kemp's leaving party from Eastenders, & loads of dodgy gangster gigs I can't tell you about. I'll keep doing this 'till its full & then I'll start the blog. OK?
