Charlie Swiggs unique sense of humor in combination of simple, humorous and charming Chinese, make people of all ages smile, while talking about some serious matters of live. Their sound and style of performing reminds one at times of cabaret / variety show music, which is rather unusual for a performing Band in Taiwan. However their music is branching out, it has the characteristic Charlie Swiggs sound. Charlie Swiggs has performed for over ten years and is amazing that the band still exists and is still coming strong, doing what they love the most, making people smile.
Charlie Swiggs was formed around 1994 and was known then as "Stoned, Drunk, Tired & German, which change to Charlie Swiggs and the Worms and later to our present day.
From the very beginning Charlie Swiggs had what other underground Bands, at that time in Taiwan didn't have, structure, tideness and a stage act.
The Band went through many changes of members and names but always stood true to these principles.
Being a alternative Band in Tainan, the south of Taiwan, like Charlie Swiggs, is truly not easy task and to keep going for such long is rather remarkable, in an environment that could care less for music and particular for an out of the Taiwanese norm.
As the members have aged and the wilder youthful years have past, so have the wilder sounds too and a more relaxed sound has evolved.
It has to be seen for how many more years this Band will keep going, but as long as Axel Schunn is as creative as he is right now, we still have a long way before his fountain of creativity is running dry.
He also is currently involved with the Guitar Slingers, a sort of country folk Band and a very different sound from Charlie Swiggs.
