At 21, Montreal-based songwriter
Charlotte Cornfield has already released two records, toured North America, appeared at several major festivals (including The Mariposa Folk Festival, The Ottawa Folk Festival, and Pop Montreal), and shared the stage with the likes of The Sadies, Amy Millan, Great Lake Swimmers, and Pierre de Reeder (Rilo Kiley).
Her songs are frequently played on nationally broadcast CBC radio shows and her albums have have charted across Canada. She has been featured on Radio 3, on ARTV's Mange Ta Ville, on iheartmusic.net, and on several major podcasts.
A native of Toronto, Charlotte moved to Montreal in 2006 to study jazz drumming at Concordia University. A wicked drummer/ percussionist and multi-instrumentalist, she can be spotted behind the kit with orchestral pop outfit Bent By Elephants, French rock and roller The Keys, magical minstrel Peter Nevins, and several other jazz and pop ensembles .
Charlotte's own bands have seen many different incarnations over the years, the latest of which featuring Ryan Frizzell on Trumpet, Kyle Irving-Moroz on cello, Kathryn Palumbo on bass, Noah Barer on Drums, and Sam Rosenberg on percussion.
Her solo guitar/voice performance is deeply captivating, and she never fails to bring the house down with her fleshed-out rock and roll act.
Her latest EP, Collage Light, was released in May 2009 and is available alongside her debut, It's Like That Here, on iTunes and in independent record stores in Montreal and Toronto.
