Aswell as being an established cover band, singing songs from all genres, The Charlotte Cottam Band has a catalogue of original songs. This fact no less true for Charlotte Cottam; a truly original singer, songwriter and instrumentalist based in Nottingham, England. Charlotte offers an invigorating alternative to a music scene.
One may be forgiven for thinking a native of Sheffield may choose not to write about the lighter side of life however with Charlotte, the opposite is true. Songs filled with stories of hope, faith and optimism truly inspire and it is hard to find someone whom can’t relate to these tuneful tales on one level or another. Drawing her inspiration from the likes of Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchell to Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley, it would be difficult for even the most battle hardened of critics to separate Charlotte’s tracks from those of her aforementioned influences based on quality alone.
Charlotte’s originality is a breathtakingly refreshing affair and with the backing of her band-the affectionately titled ‘The Charlotte Cottam Quartet’- her songs take on a whole new relevance when performed live.
