After nine years of artistic performances at the highest possible level, Charlotte Perrelli (former Nilsson) returns to the Eurovision Song Contest with the winning song 'Hero'. On the night of the 15th of March 2008 Charlotte Perrelli wins the Swedish contest with ''Hero'.
Charlotte was born on October 7, 1974.
At the age of 13 she started singing and a few years later she enrolled 'Scenskolan' (Stage school) in small rural Swedish city of Växjö. After her school years in southern Sweden she moved to Stockholm where she started studying jazz and pop. In the next few years Charlotte performed as the lead singer in various bands. She also won a Grammis (Swedish Grammy) and was awarded Gold and Platinum disks for her work.
In 1999 Charlotte enters the Melodifestivalen as a solo singer and wins with “Tusen och en natt”. For the ESC the song is re-written in English, “Take Me To Your Heaven”. The Grand Finale takes place in Jerusalem where Charlotte quickly becomes a media darling and the audience..s favorite. After a tough battle she wins the ESC.
In the next coming years Charlotte tours, not only Sweden, bur Europe, Asia, New Zeeland and Australia. She launches her own line of beauty products and in 2003 Charlotte plays the lead character in Jesus Christ Superstar with West Ends Ensemble.
In 2004, Charlotte marries husband Nicola and change their last names to Perrelli and later that year she hosts the Swedish contest for ESC with great success with a total viewing of more than 15 million people.
Two years later she is nominated for “Guldmasken'” for her role as Bell in the Disney-musical “Beauty and the beast”. Later that year she, finally, has the opportunity to pay tribute to her idol, jazz icon Monica Zetterlund, by releasing an album with songs by Monica.
But in 2008 it is time for the humble diva to return to Eurovision!
After Charlotte first heard 'Hero' she immediately said yes to participate again despite turning down many offers over the nine years. The song and timing was right and on the 15th of March 2008 she..s back as the winner in the Globe Arena in Stockholm.
It takes only two days for Charlotte to go No 1 on ITunes, radio chart and the single chart. Charlotte is, again, awarded a platinum disc for her Eurovision work.
I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.
