| About ChArTaL |
~ Inspired by the entrancing melodies and meditative rhythms of India and central Asia, the group ChArTaL brings together four talented musicians. ChArTaL welcomes you to share the passion and joy of music, the universal language of peace.
Join the journey to harmony and brotherhood, with ChArTaL!
The formation of “ChArTaL” was no accident. The four musicians in the group all come from the Far East, and “musically” represent Indian, Turkish, and Arabesque traditions. Together, the musicians have recreated the three major cultural contours that trace along the legendary and ancient Silk Road. While Taiwan has little to do with the history of the Silk Road, the musicians met here, and a shared love for world music brought them together. With a broad global outlook, the members of ChArtTaL hope their soulful music inspires peaceful musical reflections within; so much so, that the fancy idea of fused styles fades away to the experience of a refreshing new mood, as the ingenuity of an ageless musical art reveals the great memory of civilization. Let the magic fingers of ChArTaL transport your experience beyond conventional “Ethnic music” into a brand new fusion of music and spiritual passion…
“ChArTaL” combines three types of music: the music of the North Indian Classics, “Raga” and “Tala;” and the classical repertoire of the Uyghurs, the “12 Muqum.” The group cultivates a deeper fusion of improvisational styles that unite Indian, Central Asian and Flamenco music that together provide a unique cross-over standard: the more ancient global classics are fused with modern jazz, contemporary folk and various popular styles to create an exciting and novel world musical inspiration.
