Chase Missy: Chase + Missy Gipson
The New Folk Revival: Gary Kilpatrick and Patrick Yerby
Influences
Oh my oh my there are so many heroes... and in no particular order (no jealousy please!) :
Indigo Girls, Todd Snider, John Prine, Patty Griffin, Tesla, Black Crowes, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, SonVolt, Buddy and Julie Miller, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Traveling Wilburys, Bob Dylan, Melissa Etheridge, Dar Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, Redbird, Peter Mulvey, Slaid Cleaves, Hootie & The Blowfish, George Jones, Shooter Jennings...and this isn't even counting the 80's!!
This list will be ever growing so tune in tokyo.
Chase Missy has drawn comparisons to folk giants Joni Mitchell and
Bob Dylan, as well as Sonny and Cher, The Indigo Girls, and Jay-Z.
Forming the duo in 2002, Chase was just a guy with a guitar and some stories until
he convinced his soon-to-be wife Missy to take a hiatus from acting and give the
glamorous life of playing in smoky bars and sleeping under Texaco stars a try...which
she did and liked it. So they recorded their first album Invincible for 500 bucks in NYC, then moved to Atlanta and spent the next two years touring constantly (14 states and counting), sometimes playing up to 20 shows a month, while working various dayjobs (librarian, painter, teacher, emu farming) to help pay the rent. During this time Chase won an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his song
Lifes Circle. After a move closer to their roots (Fayetteville,AR) they have released their sophomore album, Folks Throwing Rocks In The Country, on their label Two Horse Town Records. It features 12 original tracks that showcase their trademark storytelling, harmonies, and multi-instrumentation (mandolin, banjo, accordion, harmonica and guitars). The addition of their band The New Folk Revival, featuring Gary Kilpatrick on drums and Patrick Yerby on bass, brings more of an alt-country edge to their sound. Since its August 05 release their new album has already garnered them opening slots for Patty Loveless, Robert Earl Keen, and Lucy Kaplansky. Their genre crossing music combines the best of folk, rock, and alt-country which led The Amplifier to describe them as a band worth watching. Just kidding about Jay-Z and the emu farming.

Leave it to Baby C+M to be fashionably late! :-) Or is it stage fright?? Somehow I doubt it. I just want him/her to hurry up and make a grand entrance. Love you guys!
Curious indeed. Probably later in August. Once you guys get the panic out of your systems. I'm super excited! I'm practicing by carrying watermelons around - only one casualty so far.
Hey guys!! It feels like forever! So I recently discovered my 'lost' copy of Invincible, only to realize it was broken. Which is very sad. I was wondering if you guys were still selling those? I'd love to have one that isn't split in two...
