The Jesus Factor, written and directed by local award winning filmmaker Cheri Lovedog, (Prey for Rock and Roll, Hollywood Trash and Tinsel), will be showing one evening only at the Rio Theater, located at 1205 Soquel Ave. Santa Cruz, CA, Sunday, December 13 at 6:30pm.

The Jesus Factor takes an unconventional, and often times humorous, look at family, sex, gender, religion, and love etiquette… or lack thereof. Johnny, disowned by his born again Christian family due to his choices in life, love, wardrobe and accessories, left Fresno and built himself a good life in Santa Cruz. With a job he loves, good friends, good music, good herb, the support of a devoted girlfriend, he has become the man he was destined to be. When his sister calls and leaves a brief phone message telling him their mother died, Johnny, against the wishes of his girlfriend, decides they will attend the funeral. Uninvited they brave Fresno and the Bible in one last attempt to inspire them to Love Thy Brother.

Advance tickets are $6.00 and available for purchase at Lovedog Tattoo Studio 1115 Soquel Ave. Santa Cruz, or online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/90309.
Night of event tickets: $8.00 at door. Student’s with ID $5.00 in advance or at door.

The Blessings We Take for Granted

Something to think about for Thanksgiving:

Maybe it's not a coincidence that November brings Election Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving Day all in a row. First we have the privilege of voting. Then on Veterans Day we can remember and pay respects to all the individuals who fought and died for that right. Finally we can give thanks for all of it, for our freedoms, for our forefathers, and for all of our choices and opportunities. These are blessings we take for granted while others give up their lives to obtain or to protect them for us.
