Chasing Arcadia isn't your run of the mill, generic pop band. Their music speaks to a deeper part of the human experience. Reviewers have described their music as "Heartmelting", "Hopeful" and that kind of thing that "lets us know that the judgments, misplaced trust and resentment we battle are not who we are." It is music that is immensely relevant in our modern times.
Showcasing a mix of Brit Pop influncs with a North American sound, Chasing Arcadia formed one night as a conversation between friends and quickly grew into something much greater. In 2005 they released their debut CD, produced by Siegfriend Meier at EMAC studios. It recieved great critical reviews and the songs "Summertime" and "Comedown" were featured on radiostations throughout the country. Shortly after, however, due to internal problems the band broke up in the fall of 2005.
During the next few years, front man Darryl McCarty continued writing songs, and in the winter of 2007 it became clear that it was time for the band to re-unite. Joined by original bassist Stan Clemence and new comers Patrick Hughes, on guitar; and Jeff Wakem on drums, their music quickly has matured into a simultaneously more polished yet more energetic sound. Drawing from influences such as Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Keane, Travis and others, their music is both infectious and inventive. With their latest, self-produced CD scheduled for release in November of 2009, and a host of live shows in the future, Chasing Arcadia is positioned for a bright future.
