The idea behind Chasing Dixie has been in the works since creator Tony Holden began scouting for talent in winter of 2007. After a long audition process, he felt he had found the magical combination of voices and instruments.
The group's lead singer, Alaina Whitaker, is best known for competing on American Idol last year. With her powerful, soulful voice, the eighteen-year-old Tulsa native became a Top 10 Finalist on Season 7. Despite her young age, Alaina has over fifty 1st place trophies and awards from singing competitions and is a strong, seasoned performer. Erin James and Andrea Young are Nashville veterans; musicians/singers/songwriters who have played sessions on numerous albums and toured throughout the world. Andrea was most recently on Tim McGraw's "Live Your Voice Tour" with opening act Halfway to Hazard and with Sixwire on CMT's hit "Can You Duet." Erin toured with '60's country artist Ronnie Dove for 3 years, worked with Pat Roper, and has had some of the hottest pickers in Nashville backing her up live and in the studio. The girls have combined their blossoming solo careers in order to create music and live shows that are not only powerful, but undeniable.
The girls hit the ground running and have never looked back. The trio played in front of over 12,000 people during their first performance as they opened up for Brooks & Dunn. They have played numerous shows with their friend and mentor, Keith Anderson, as well as shared the stage with Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, and Rio Grande. With high-energy shows and a fresh, rockin', country-fried sound, Chasing Dixie is quickly becoming a fan favorite.
A great rapport with GAC host, Storme Warren, has landed the girls a showcase on his entertainment news series, "Headline Country." They will film for the show on July 16-18, 2009. An announcement will soon be made for the airing on GAC.
In addition, the girls are also being filmed for a reality television pilot. The cameras are rolling backstage, on stage, and in studio as Chasing Dixie takes aim and fires up the world of country music.
