DIRECTORS STATEMENT:
We have always been drawn to telling stories about ordinary people that attempt the extraordinary. It is in these stories that that we find insight and inspiration. We gravitate to the underdog story, where the characters are challenged by lifes trials and tribulations. It is the human dilemma that intrigues us. In our documentary, it was our intention to tell a very personal story and appreciate every characters qualities and dimensions fully. With Jeff, Milo and Toby we found that they were always true to themselves. They were honest and what comes off on screen is so very real. This film looks at the daily ups and downs of these unique characters in a voyeuristic way. We wanted the cameras POV to feel like it was from the eyes of one of the teammates. To film this movie we went on our own adventure that rivaled the race itself. With a couple of cameras and a RV, we traveled over 3000 miles and spent thousand of hours with them. In the end one thing is for certain, we were hooked on off-road racing and we not only had joined a team but a family. We are truly proud to have been part of this adventure and will never forget the journey we all had during the making of this film.

Who I'd like to meet: To all fellow car lovers and race fans we would like to invite you to the Los Angeles premiere screening of Chasing the Horizon, a documentary film about a motley crew of misfit off-road racers who attempt for the first time the most grueling point to point off-road race in the world, the Baja 1000. The film follows the underdog team from beginning to end on their adventure.

SYNOPSIS: The Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is known as the most treacherous and grueling off road race in the world where danger lurks around every curve and over every horizon. In this close up look at a rookie off road racing team who are attempting this granddaddy of all races, we join three men who will come together to form a dysfunctional family that they call Team Horizon. Meet Jeff Lloyd once homeless teenager, self-made millionaire, racecar driver, Milo Brown ex-con, junkyard owner, team captain, and Toby OMara, plumber, chief mechanic, co-driver. We go inside to experience the ups and downs and prove that Murphys Law truly exists as they bumble through the days leading up to the race. At times theyre hysterically funny while also dealing with moments that are heart warmingly sad. It is here we discover what it takes physically, mentally, and emotionally to follow the dream of one man trying to bring his family, friends and a team together to experience life in the moment. What they soon find out is, lifes a journey not a destination.
