The Si Se Puede Award will be presented posthumously to Mestre Carlos Aceituno, a man who espoused Cesar’s core values in his everyday life, such as community and service to others. Mestre Aceituno founded the award winning Carnaval Group Fogo Na Roupa; consisting of both a performing company and a Grupo Carnavalesco (Carnival Group), he also taught Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art. His unwavering commitment in these areas of study touched the lives and hearts of many community members. It is only fitting that we come together as a community to celebrate and honor the great contributions of Cesar E. Chavez and Mestre Carlos Aceituno. Although these men are not with us in the flesh, they are with us in spirit, and will always have a special place in our hearts. For through their actions they taught us that "SI SE PUEDE"!
Please visit the Fogo Na Roupa website to view Mestre's life's work. GO FOGO!
