Since the summer of 2007, the North Jersey based Rock/Worship band, Checkgauge, has been catching the attention of concert-goers with their exciting live show and powerful rock-worship style. While maintaining an identity all their own, Checkgauge has drawn many musical comparisons to their various influences including Anberlin, Switchfoot, Relient K, the Starting Line, Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters, Weezer and others in that sub-genre of rock. With each member of Checkgauge drawing from years of experience in previous bands, the band seems well mature and polished beyond its short existence. Checkgauge consists of lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Jai Brinkofski, guitarist Scott Valenza, bassist Alex Nunes, and drummer Victor Ladoano.
Checkgauge formed in August 2007 after the break up of former bands that each member was involved in. While feeling the sadness of the situations that divided them from their former musical and ministry endeavors, Jai, Scott and Alex decided to form their own band based on their love for music and their hearts for worship and ministry. While they were thinking of how to go about finding a fouth member, each of them remembered a drummer they'd seen on YouTube who fit all of the bands criteria for style, feel, and heart. That drummer was Victor Ladoano. After giving Victor a call, they found out he had just become available and was very excited to become a part of Checkgauge.
Since that time, Checkgauge has shared billing with such prestigious acts as Lincoln Brewster, Seventh Day Slumber, Jonah 33 and Article A. They bring with them a true sense of professionalism, joy and ministry wherever and whenever they play. Because of this, people are becoming more and more enthusiastic about Checkgauge. Here are what some of them have to say:
"Our church was so impressed with Checkgauge and everyone at the concert saw their genuine hearts for youth and for Christ. It was absolutely moving. The music was absolutely fantastic!!! Not only did they do their own material, but covered songs that the older crowd knew as well... and they REALLY enjoyed it!!! We're definitely having Checkgauge back again and again and again!!!" - Heather Tinney (Concert Promoter at Safe Haven Church in Farmingdale, NY)
"Working with Checkgauge was so wonderful! It is obvious that they perform to worship; that's what this earthly life is all about, worshiping our Lord and Savior. Checkgauge provided that for our audience. The song line up was varied and impacted those listening. Everyone in the audience enjoyed the variety of worship songs that they could join in with and/or listen to." - Erin Wimer (Concert Promoter and Student Leader for the Christian Campus Fellowship at Wilkes University)
"Checkgauge has to be one of the best bands I've seen around. They are really great people who are very on fire for Christ and it really shows, both on and off the stage." - Nikki Deihl (Promoter for the Refuge Coffeehouse in Quakertown, PA)
"We find a spiritual recharging when at Checkgauge's concerts. They literally recharge our tanks. We look forward to each show we are able to attend, and go into Checkgauge withdrawal when there is a long gap between shows we can attend." - Tim and Pete Fray (faithful concert goers)
Checkgauge is moving forward, seeking out new opportunities to spread the Gospel and to encourage their brothers and sisters in Christ through their fairly unique and rockin' worship music and their truly introspective, honest original music. With their first EP slated to be released by summer's end, 2008, Checkgauge is likely not far from being a name recognized in youth groups and churches across the East Coast.

It rained, Checkgauge came, and the rain stopped.... Then the dock was rocked... Great time Friday night and it was great meeting you guys and getting to hangout. Sorry about the dinner mixups. Since when does Kings and Eat N Park close at 11pm? Wow. Sheetz was fun though. Next time we'll get you guys a home cooked meal if you want. Hope to have you guys back soon and maybe we'll do an indoor show in our gym this winter. We have a nice big stage there, but I'd have to checkout the sound quality. Later!
Oh the good old days! I hope someday we can get the four of us together one last time and just rock out for an afternoon. That would be the most amazing thing.
I think I have a vhs copy of that (if its the show with Andy in those awful smiley boxers!) But i would love to get a dvd instead, as I no longer have a vhs player. I'll send you my address.
I just wanted to say that I hope you have fun in Kutztown Friday (I wish I could be there)and have fun recording on Saturday! I hope everything goes well.
P.S. I love the new pictures up on the website from last weekend. Where did you find a photographer?
