NO LIFE FOR A HORSE : Friday 2nd June 2006
www.myspace.com/nolifeforahorse

New monthly music club (well into it's 3rd month...)

THE MOSAICS
Formed in November 2004, the band soon gained the label of being one of the brightest young prospects to come out of the North East, captivating many audiences with their songs and dazzling live performances. With influences ranging from Coldplay and U2, through to Jeff Buckley and Joni Mitchell, they have achieved a unique style of their own marrying heartfelt lyrics with aching melodies that stand up against the very best pop tunes of today.

PELLETHEAD
Classic punk performance-art from this Middlesbrough-based 4-piece.
Frantic guitar strummery; whacky lead guitar lines stemming from the two-note solos of the late 70's (think of the Buzzcock's Boredom); manic bass melody; thumping drums that thoroughly shock-wave the entire kit. The inevitable Fall comparison is not unfair, but there's far more fun in Pellethead than that curmudgeonly Mark E Smith bloke could ever deliver. Songs are about "real life" (whatever that is). Social observation of phenomena like "Paddy Badway" and Middlesbrough FC's "Defending too deep". Pellethead's quirky punk is too good to miss.
