The History of C.O.W.
Newil Forbush began working for
a local family run cheese factory after high school. During his 25 plus years
there, he worked in every area from picking up milk at local farms, to cheese
production, to out of state delivery routes. He ultimately assisted the owner
in overseeing the whole operation. The oldest two children, Sherry and Randy,
worked at the factory as soon as they turned 16 years old. They both worked
there until they went to college.
Unfortunately, the factory
changed ownership several times in the late 80's. The large corporation that
finally owned the factory, closed it down.
As it was closing, Newil and his
wife Lois realized there would be a big void left when the factory closed down.
Everyone in the rural area was used to getting cheese directly from the factory.
They decided to capitalize on that void by starting their own business.
C.O.W. was founded in 1989. Newil and Lois started the company with just one truck that they used to sell and deliver cheese. Thus, the name Cheese On Wheels better known as COW.
With the help of their two younger sons, Scott and Kyle, Cheese Of Wisconsin (Local Sales and Shipping Division) was launched.
Due to the passing of Lois and Kyle head off to college, Scott has taken over ownership of C.O.W. and oversees the daily operations.
The most recent addition to C.O.W. was launched in late 2006 -- CheeseOnWeb.com. Sherry now lives in Illinois south of Chicago and still a Packer Fan! In addition to running her own business, Sherry began selling cheese on online/eBay. She handles the computer work. But Scott makes sure that Fresh Wisconsin Cheese is shipped out and delivered to your door.
