Chef Fritz's Roadhouse (543 High Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio) may be the most haunted restaurant/bar in Lake County, Ohio. It is over 100 years old and situated down the road from the famous Fairport Harbor Lighthouse rumored to be the home to a ghost cat.
My name is Darla and I just recently got back into my interest of the paranormal. I met with the Owner "Mike" who told me alot about the happenings and showed me the pictures the patrons have given to him over the years. I had some friends bring their cameras and each time we have been there, something got captured on someone's camera. I have added all the pictures to date and most were taken with a throw away camera during a New Years Eve party. Alot of activity occurs when he has bands or D.J.'s. They seem to love the music.
I have to spread the word about this place to everyone interested in ghost hunting or spirit seekers. In short, I convinced Mike to allow me to scan his pictures and create a myspace because this is truly a unique place. He told me that psychics and paranormal investigators have come as far as California to feel the activity. Fritz's has also been featured on the local news stations.
Anyone is welcome during business hours to come alone or with a group. Cameras, Video and Recorders are ALL allowed. He told me he is far too busy to deal with the haunted part of his bar and does not have time to handle the interest in this. So, he authorized me to "take the reins."
Another neat thing to see are two doors that he took off the hinges because the shroud of turin and Mary images are on them. It was hard for my camera to pick these images up so I have not posted them yet. I am not kidding when I say this place is truly unique. Mike has experienced many, many ghostly/strange occurences and even says he is very friendly with one of the ghosts, a constable who was killed in the pub in the 1900's.
Another story he told me was that a woman was raped in the bar and hung (early 1800s) and she resides there.
There is also a good male spirit, a bad male spirit, a little girl (that someone caught on video but he does not have the tape) and an older gray haired lady but some psychics have picked up other entities as well.
I asked him if he would ever allow us to head an investigation and he said only during business hours because his shift doesn't end until after 3:00 a.m. and doesn't want anyone downstairs while he is sleeping (he actually lives here! brave man). Still, people are able to capture lots of things while the bar is full of people.
He has tons of stories and told me that throughout the fall, numerous ghost organizations/tours came to his bar.
Besides being haunted, they do have a great menu and it is a comfortable neighborhood bar. You are welcome to stop in anytime. No charge or purchase required.
