The Cheats bid farewell to founder member this Friday
Seattle punk band The Cheats will bid farewell to guitarist Pete Cheat at the Shanty Tavern this Friday, July 24, in what’s sure to be a must-see show by the local favorites. Pete will be relocating to the East Coast in August, making this the penultimate show to feature the original band line-up. The Cheats have been playing together since 2005, although all four band members knew each other before from other musical projects. Their energetic live shows have earned them a strong following in the city, blending traditional punk with a New Wave pop sensibility, and we can only hope that they continue to entertain us following Pete Cheat’s departure. In the meantime, be sure to catch them on stage while you still can. Doors open at The Shanty Tavern (9002 Lake City Way NE) at 9pm, and entry is $5 on the door. Also appearing are Holy Name Dropouts and Jeff Marshall & The Law, with The Cheats scheduled to appear around 10pm.
