About me:
Monday hosts the ever popular Chemic General Knowledge Quiz. Not for the faint hearted, it's a tough quiz in which students and locals alike battle it out for the prize money and the esteem of being the Chemic Quiz champion! There are many regular teams but we welcome everyone who would like to come along. It starts at 9.30pm and finishes at 11, although the bar is open until 12 every night and 1am on Friday & Saturday. (Sundays 11.30pm)

Tuesday has a writers group on alternate weeks, its just finding its feet at the moment as its quite new but there are lots of people interested and it has hosted writers workshops and discussion groups that have been a big success. the best way to keep up with news from the group is to join the 'Leeds Writers' facebook group. Or call us for info.

Wednesday is the Irish folk music session, its been running for years and is very popular. Incredibly talented musicians get together for a folk music session that is a delight to hear. They start around 8.30pm if you'd like to come along.

The main attraction at the moment in the Chemic (besides the attractive staff) is Thursday night's CLOTH CAT Open Mic night. This has been running for nearly a year and has been going great guns. All levels of ability & experience are welcome. You can just turn up and get yourself on the running list on arrival. It's an intimate venue room with a great friendly vibe. Check out the facebook group for more details and photos. 'Cloth Cat Open Mic Night'

To book bands in for weekend events/fundraisers/parties, please call us on 01132457670

If anyone would like to organize an evening of entertainment themselves. Give us a call on 0113 2457670 to enquire about and arrange events.

We are now a member of Amnesty International. The Chemic makes a regular donation to the cause and any charity change collected over the bar is an additional contribution.

Feel free to send your comments to chemictavern@hotmail.co.uk if you have any feelings to share.

Thanks to everyone who has sent in pictures by email.

NEVER VISITED THE CHEMIC BEFORE??? Well.. We're a traditional real ale pub tucked away just off Woodhouse Street in Leeds 6. We're popular with both locals and students. The pub is home to a grand piano and hosts several live music nights on a weekly basis.

The Chemic Tavern boasts a fine selection or REAL ALES.

Our resident ales are Timothy Taylor's - Landlord (cited to be Madonna's favorite beer) and Black Sheep Best Bitter. In addition, we regularly rotate our range of guest ales. It's usually one or two lesser known ales from varying parts of the country.

We are a member of Cask Marque scheme which regularly monitors the quality of an establishment's ales.

Our other Pub is the Wrens Hotel in Leeds city centre. Look out for it amongst the Chemic's friends. To view the accommodation at the hotel go to www.thewrenshotel.co.uk.

..

The Chemic tavern is around 200 years old, it gets it's name from Johnston's Chemical works; a company that manufactured Vitriol (sulphuric acid) and other industrial chemicals. Now the pub is a thriving part of the community.

We're open from midday every day our closing times are;

Monday to Thursday - Midnight

Friday & Saturday - 1am

Sunday - 11.30pm
