アフロ・キューバン・パーカショニスト後藤嘉文--よしふみ--が中心となり
日本ラテン音楽シーンで活躍するミュージシャンを集結。2007年3月、ライブ活動スタート。 AFRO CUBAN・RUMBA・SON--POPS・・・

BATA--バタ--サンテリア宗の打楽器--を中心としたポップでバイラブレなサウンドを目指す。

Chequendeke means "heart" in Abakua language. Since March 2007, A percussionist GOTO Yoshifumi (know as the only 3-Bata player in Japan, gathered Latin music players based in Tokyo. The band is comprised of (7) musicians -- a trumpet Ayumi OZAKI making up the brass, combined with the Afro-cuban beat of percussion Yoshifumi GOTO , and drums Takashi OHNO, bass Tetsuo KOIZUMI , piano Ryuta ABIRU, chorus Uri and a vocalist NANA.

Music type: Contemporary Afro-Cuban / Rumba / Son / Pops

ここでいうアフロキューバンというのは普通の伝統的なルンバやサンテリーアのことではありません。それは昨年から相次いで来日したジューサやテルマリーの活躍もあって、ダンス好きをさしおいてアーリーアダプターたちに注目されつつあるキューバの新世代サウンドのキーワードの一つです。新世代ですから、いろいろな実験がなされているのですが、ソンからサルサに至る音楽進化をいったん横に置き、伝統的なアフロキューバンに立ち返ってそこから一気に現代化をはかったかのようなサウンドには身震いします。

そんなサウンドをいち早く取り入れた注目のアフロキューバン・コンテンポラリーバンド、チェケンデケ。強烈なアフロのポリリズムにのる美しいメロディとハーモニー、さあどう進化していくのか。

"Afro-Cuban" in this term means not only the traditional Santeria or rumba. " Contemporary Afro-Cuban " is enhanced with the Japan tour of Yusa or Telmary since 2005. It is still a experimental sound type in Cuba as well as in Japan. Chequendeke music concept is to put aside the evolution of son-salsa, going back to the origin afro-Cuban, and modernize straight forward.
