Drawing from her many roles as mother, daughter, sister, lover and friend, Cheri uses her dynamic vocals to express her extraordinary experiences. With her combined talents as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer, Cheri has developed a knack for taking those everyday experiences and elevating them to extraordinary heights with her passionate music and vivid lyricism. Her sultry and powerful vocal style is heralded as unique by critics both at home and abroad.
Ms. Maree began singing as a five year old girl in Muncie, Indiana, her birthplace. She spent her formative years singing in churches, talent contests and local bands, cutting her teeth in a wide array of venues and immersing herself in many different genres. Her professional career came about as a result of an encounter with a pessimistic college professor who suggested that the enthusiastic young singer “choose another career”. Never one to back away from a challenge, Cheri forged ahead on a quest for her musical destiny. Since then, Cheri has blossomed into a vocalist capable of spanning genres such as jazz, rock, soul and gospel. Her musical eclecticism was captured brilliantly in her 2006 debut release Pure Voice. The album garnered Maree attention from the international independent soul community. Positive nods came from Soul Tracks and Soulchoonz, both highly respected by the soul music tastemakers all over the globe. This album gave Cheri the opportunity to create inspirational life music about love and relationships that encourage the listener to move, groove and enjoy. A recent collaboration with renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist Mo Pleasure has produced the phenomenal upcoming single entitled Revival of a Love Story from her sophomoric CD, 360 Degree Woman. This powerful anthem stands as a tribute to women all over the world encouraging them to strive first for self-love.
