Cheriseinsocal's Interests
General
Geocaching, hiking, camping, photography, writing, dreaming, gardening, the beach, the mountains, the theatre, museums, art, music, collecting books, board games, making home-made cards, intelligent and stimulating conversations, dancing, spending time with friends, entertaining, shooting stars, shooting pool, throwing darts, wine, traveling, francais, Paris and much much more! I hate to sit still and love to keep busy.
Music
I love music - everything EXCEPT rap and country!
I love Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and some misc. Jazz vinyl that I've picked up and or found in my Grandma's stash of records... that's what I've been listening to as of late.
Movies
No stupid humor movies or horror flicks - most others I am pretty much open to. I adore Amelie - I wish I lived in Paris! *sigh* I really like "What Dreams May Come" "Garden State" and "Good Will Hunting" "Moulin Rouge" ... a few favs for sure.
Television
What's a t.v.? Oh yeah, it's that big eyeball in houses that sucks the life out of you. :P I was just introduced to "Heroes" - crap, it's a good show and now I "have" to watch it to see what happens next! How did this happen TO ME?? *gasp* Oh well, it's a lot of fun getting together with a group of friends every Monday night to watch it (Grandma loved this show and our weekly nights at home with my friends).
Books
I have more books that I will ever be able to read, but I love to collect dictionaries! I also collect books in foreign languages (mostly French) and dictionaries in other languages, just in case I get to visit one day! :)
I have many books about Paris, art, poetry, and many of the "classics". I just finished reading "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" - NOT for kids, nor the faint of heart, but I liked the book a lot, and that's all I'll say about that one! Right now I am reading Delta of Venus by Anais Nin, although not as regularly as I did my last book. *Update Aug.07 - I have no idea what happened to my Anais Nin book!
Now I am hoping to start the third Harry Potter book soon, although other things have been keeping me occupied!**
I came across a great site over a year ago, and I need to go back to it. It's called: bookcrossing . com and it seems to be a good way to "let my books go" even if I have not read them yet. I hope to get more involved in this, for I'd like to share my love of literature. Seeing as I have an addiction to buying books, but not finding the time to read them, this may be a good way to purge my 5 bookcases!
***UPDATE*** I am looking to sell my book collection - hit me up if you are interested in knowing what is upon my shelves! ********
Heroes
I guess I would have to say that my Grandmother Mary and my Uncle Dick were pretty amazing. My Grandmother practically raised me, so for that I am ever grateful. My Uncle Dick was the most beloved member of our family - he loved everyone, and even though he never had kids of his own, he treated each one of us wonderfully.
About me:
I am a goofy, sarcastic, creative, wacky wild woman! I consider myself an outdoorsy type of person, for I love nature, hiking and playing in the mud. Right now my main priorities are taking care of my house, finding a decent job and trying to "purge" things in my life that are holding me down. I would love to simplify my life - no need for a television, but I need my stereo, no need for a VCR, but I need my computer (or do I?). I have lived for a long time without the net, but now that I have it, I am TOO addicted. Having the net does help me with my favorite hobby - Geocaching, which I can say is just as addicting as anything. Right now Geocaching is like breathing to me - it's the only thing keeping me "alive" and gives me something to look forward to.
I yearn to get more into artistic things such as photography, but as of late, I have let my dreams go by the way side. I need more "me" time, but seem to be good at filling my time with other worrisome things.
Need to work on the house - I had been busy painting the walls bright beautiful colors to inspire me, but now I am at a stand still wondering what to do with the kitchen and living room. I'd love to move my desk and work area before my wall of windows, to be able to see nature outside when time and weather do not permit me to be within it. I've gotten rid of "cable" so I don't really have a use for my TV, other than to watch movies. *sigh* My home is a work in progress, so please be patient with me when you come visit! :)
I'm complicated, but then again, I am a woman. I am a true Piscean in many ways; the dreamer with her head in the clouds, always thinking, dreaming, wishing.....

Song: Bitch
(This song is 100% ME!)
I hate the world today
You're so good to me
I know but I can't change
Tried to tell you
But you look at me like maybe
I'm an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
Must have been relieved to see
The softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
So take me as I am
This may mean
You'll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that
When I start to make you nervous
And I'm going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change
And today won't mean a thing
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool, you do what you do
And don't try to save me
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way

My father, Phil and brother, Sean O'Brien, both whom I never met
Who I'd like to meet: I love to meet new people, as I have a saying, "Everyone you meet is an opportunity; an opportunity to learn something new, try something different, find a job, make new friends, fall in love...." I could continue to ramble, but I shall save that for another time and moment. So, drop a hello, for you never know who may be on the other side of that greeting!
