Chernobyl Cha-Cha was created by Hans Gauthier in 1999 in Quebec City. Teaming up with guitarist/producer Jef Hell, they refined their sound to what they 've coined as "hellectronique rock'n'roll" : raw r'n'r combining guitars, effects and machines, coloured by ambiguous sex and identity, evil but positive believes and a love/hate relationship with pop culture. Up until 2004, Chernobyl Cha-Cha appeared in various bars and cheap venues in Quebec and Montreal. Then after a brief hiatus during which Jef Hell joined electro pop act Echo Kitty and Hans Gauthier formed his own solo project Tranzistor Bop, Chernobyl Cha-Cha was resurrected in 2006 to perform live and record once again. The duo did a short but great Switzerland tour in 2007. In 2008, a third member, S-Ben, joined the band. Chernobyl Cha-Cha called it quits in 2009, after 10 years of hellectronique rock'roll. HAIL!
