This is a story about a little girl named Cherokee. This site has been set up to assist families with donations, prayers and thank-you's. All correspondence will be dealt with through this page.
Cherokee was 13 years old when she relapsed from ALL(acute lymphoblastic leukemia) after a year remission. The next step was a bone marrow transplant in which Cherokee and her mother would be living in Ann Arbor for, four months while Cherokee recovered. A bone marrow transplant is the most dangerous of all transplants, versus an organ transplant where the body rejects the organ, a bone marrow rejects you and starts to attack all your major body organs and systems. This is called graft versus host disease, and can have mild effects or be fatal. Unfortunately Cherokee lost her battle March 14th, 2008, after only six weeks post transplant. She did however beat cancer, but unfortunately the bone marrow beat her.
This page will remain open as we introduce you to many more families in need. We are in the process of creating a website, but will keep this page active. We hope that you join us in our fight to help families our goal is to reach out to all families no matter what the illness or age. If you would like to become a volunteer in this cause please feel free to write us your info, so that we may contact you. Thank-you to all who supported us and it is my hope that we can, as a team make the difference. Our team as is follows: Christine Davidson- President, Antoinette Kalena- Vice President, Amanda Dallaire- Secretary/treasurer, Scott Davidson - Promotions. Again Thanks for the add up...and we hope to see you and your crew
Wow I just watched the video from 25 news that's on your page. They did one about Brooklyn as well not too long ago. Hurley is the best place to be for this! I saw our nurse Cindy that we had too...we LOVED Cindy!
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Celebration of Life today. Previous commitments made it impossible. I am certain that there was ample amounts of love being shared from the many friends and family members that DID attend. Know that Cherokee was in my entire family's thoughts on this day. Much love to you all.
Today was SO beautiful, touching, heart-warming, & even inspiring ~ just like Cherokee !! We are so thankful we got a chance to meet her ! We love you guys !
