yea, i'm doing good, running start is going well too, but it does feel weird to not have a show going on this time of year... i really miss everybody up there, it's been awesome the last 3 years doing shows with you guy! but I do have tickets for tonight! I can't wait to see it! Break a leg!
Cheryl, You said you were a preschool teacher what ages of children do you teach? Do you work in a private for profit center or a federally funded nonprofit center like Head Start.
How did you decide that being a preschool teacher was something you wanted to pursue as a career?
Well, Cheryl I actually was going to college in California and lived there for 15 + years after high school, but my parents moved back to Arkansas and I got sick and had no one to stay with out on the West Coast. I eventually had to have two major operations however now I am fine :0)!!
I have been a preschool, school-age daycare teacher since 1990 and I have worked for Head Start in California and Arkansas as well as private Christian preschools and dacycare centers. I have been substituting at the nearby school district this last year. I plan to go back a class or two at a time (due to high loans and no more grants when you work on a second BA) and get my license to teach in Arkansas it would allow my to teach K-4th grade. I have substituted for the following grades: Kindergarten (loved it and want to teach at this level someday), first grade, K-4th P.E., 7th-12th Art classes (I love art, but not 7th-12th graders give me a classroom full of primary students and I am a happy camper), 5th Math (LOL LOL I am not too good at math), and 7th-8th grade History.
I love teaching however in high school I wanted to go to New York and be on Broadway and sing. Funny how things change and we change. I didn't realize I had a gift for working with kids till after I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ when I was 19. I grew up in a home where my dad always put me down and yelled at us kids. This caused a lot of hurt and bitterness to lodge deep in my heart. It was Jesus that convicted me of being bitter towards my dad during an altar call during a youth conference and at the altar I cried until I thought my heart would break and somehow Jesus helped me to forgive my dad and let go of the bitterness. I am sooooo glad that experience let loose of a love for the Lord, my dad, and others especially children that I had never experienced before.
I am sorry to go on, but Jesus has done such wonderful things in my heart and life I can't leave him out of the pa
School is going pretty well. I like my classes a lot, but i'm having a hard time staying motivated to do homework! My roommates are great and there are a lot of wonderful people around campus. I'm keeping busy volunteering with several campus groups. Two work with homeless shelters, one will be one-on-one mentoring with 5th graders, and one is a group that does theater/environmental stuff with 6 year olds! I'm working in the admissions office too. I'm doing really well! But it is killing me not to be a part of Guys and Dolls! Emma's keeping me semi-updated, but it's far from being there! I miss you all and hope you have a fun/semi-stress-free hell week and an awesome show!!! Give my love to your family and the cast!
Wow summer has been flying by!! The boys can't wait to get back to school and quite honestly, I can't wait for them to get back to school either. hehe Hope your having a fun summer, Lady!!! ~Tris
Hi CherylAnn, thanks for adding me - great to get to know you in Sorrento - glad you enjoyed the class! By the way, your favorite movies are exactly the same as mine.....! xoJennifer
A Cheryl - went out to the closing of LBI ceremony in May - they are moving to Everette. Weird being there and remembering all of the fun stuff we all did together. you were in a bunch of pic's - we sure had some weird, crazy and fun times. A bunch of LBI people - like a ton are on Facebook - even Naomi Larson - you should check it out!
Hi ya back, I would love to show up for a little get together next weekend. I actually have the whole weekend off so just let me know the when and where.
Thanks fer the b-day wish! Yes lets do. I will be doing "12th Night" in longview on Thur and Sat and Joey is doing his one man show in Portland but I can get some folks together fer a party. shoot me an email and lets work out the details. Would love to see you.
i'm doing running start this fall and thought it would be best to make sure i didn't overbook myself cause i'm not really sure how difficult Wenatchee Valley College will be for me so i thought i'd take the first year, or at least quarter, slow, just to be on the safe side... I'm definitely going to swing up to Chelan this fall and check out the show, I have an old copy of the movie with Sinatra and Brando and absolutely love it! I know you guys will do a great job and Judy is a fabulous director! so how are you doing? how's the family?
Hi!! Didn't know there was a convention out there. Will have to look that one up. We are leaving tomorrow on a motorcycle trip to Post Falls, ID. On our return trip we will be going to Grand Coulee. Then, a bunch of our group will be going home. I will see what the rest of them want to do. If I can "swing it" I will try to get them to head up to Chelan. Maybe we can hook up with you there to say howdy! I don't have your phone number. e-mail me tonight with it and I'll give you a call when and if we get to town. We will be leaving by 5:30am so you'll have to do it tonight. Sorry. Can't wait to see you guys again. If not, August will work depending on when you come down. Let me know possible dates and I'll carve out time to do the "mini-reunion". Hope to see you soon.
Lol. Yes it is. We are total nerds... Big time! And I love it. hee hee I hope to make it back to CVIS to help some more. It just depends on how early I get off work. Have a good evening, CherylAnn! ~Tris
