About me:
My Philosophy on writing: I write poetry that is sparse. I believe the page is the poet's canvas so my poems are usually no longer than a page. I am fond of flash fiction too. I think a writer should reinvent and liberate poetry, create words with new meanings, and use lively, fresh metaphor and vivid imagery. Every word in a poem has to be loaded with layers of meaning.
I grew up amidst the Berkshires of Massachusetts and received my BA in English/Journalism from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. I interned and wrote for National Public Radio, freelanced for magazines and newspapers, and have taught high school English. To date, I have been published in print by The UMass Student Literary Journal, Valley Women’s Voice, Women Unlimited, The Springfield Journal, Focus Magazine, Aputamkon Review and published online by RoadKill Zen. I also once won a cruise by entering a jazz radio contest that required a love letter to be written!
I am a lover of remodeling old houses. I spend winters in a condo in Orlando, Florida and try to retreat to a cabin in a remote village in downeast coastal Maine or visits family in Western Mass most summers aka (Snow bird). I believe in living authentically, and because I have always been an East Coast girl I dream of touring the west coast by motorcycle, I drive my own.
