We are a local group who campaign to prevent animal suffering in all forms and to educate the public on animal rights issues.

At present, we do not hold meetings as this group is relatively new and our numbers small. In time, we hope to host monthly meetings to discuss aims, events and new campaigns. We also hope to hold stalls to provide information to the public in the town centre at weekends.

Factory Farming- Farming animals for the meat, egg and dairy industry is the most widespread and unnoticed forms of animal abuse. We campaign to promote/educate the public on vegetarianism and veganism as a way for the individual to reduce this suffering and take a stand against it.
Vivisection- We are against the practice of vivisection due to the extent of the animal abuse involved, and also because it is an ineffective form of product/medical testing. We aim to educate the public of alternatives to animal-tested products and to put pressure on shops to stock cruelty-free produce or end their use of animal experimentation.
Hunting- We are against hunting and all bloodsports. We believe that killing for pleasure has no place in society and campaign for its abolition. The hunting ban has come at last, but there are still hunts flouting the law, as well as animals being legally bred and culled in the name of sport (eg pheasant shooting)
Fur- We are against fur and aim to educate the public of any shops in the area which continue to sell fur and campaign against them. The fur trade is responsible for tens of thousands of animals deaths each year, in the name of fashion.
Pets- We are in contact with local animal rescue centres which are overflowing with animals, and yet people continue to go to pet stores and animal breeders when they choose a pet. This increases demand for more animals to be bred, more animals to be in need of homes when owners tire of them, and the cycle continues. We aim to increase local awareness of rescue animals and encourage people to adopt them rather than purchasing an animal from a breeder or pet shop.
