Visit the official Chester Copperpot site, click away won't you:
We are Chester Copperpot, the pride and joy of Swedish rural power pop.
We got together in 1990 with the main objective to have something to do whilst drinking beer. Curiously, this sort of enterprise didn't lead to immediate success, all that hard work (we produced boat loads of demos), though making us masters of our instruments, was actually taking us nowhere.
Something had to be done, so we changed the name of the band from Kings of Kirby to Chester Copperpot (actually there were about 500 great names until we landed on Chester Copperpot, but why bother you with those).
This successful metamorphosis in 1994 inspired us to record the musical epic Kola, which resulted in a record deal. In 1995 we proceeded to record the ep Short cuts on Swedish label Dolores, and, at the end of the same year, began the work on the full-length album Poems and short stories. The release in 1996 was followed by astounding reviews, world wide distribution and some intricate performances, one of them being the whiskey-drenched show at the Emmaboda Festival, which ultimately gave us the title "Sweden's second worst live act" in a local newspaper. Fancy that!
The breaking point for us, however, was the release of the single Bitter Sweet Tunes on Popkid Records in 1998. Hereafter we started to correspond irregularly with Popkid and eventually we started working on The Kings of Kirby album in 2001. Quite a few fun-filled weekends later in the fall of 2003 to be exact the love-laden recordings (which by the way were made in our home town) were finished.
After some concluding, and most elegant, artwork of the ever so crafty Niklas, our magnum opus was ready. The Kings of Kirby, a hopeful, happy, fun-fueled tornado of love, one might say... and we do!
More recently we have finished recording the coming Courage Mountain EP and PopKid are just waiting for exactly the right moment for its release! All we can tell you is this: it's the greatest piece of music ever (by Chester Copperpot, that is)! For now, listen to some of the songs here on our myspace page, and come back now and then for further info on the release.
Hugs and kisses /CC
