ABOUT CHESTER & PETEY
Chester's owner, Madame Malvina, has been asked on numerous occasions how it happened that her pup has "Petey" (from The Our Gang comedies) as his Spirit Guide, how they met and how they became so close.
The story begins over 75 years ago when Chester was incarnated to this earth as a member of a litter that was whelped September 6, 1929 in Culver City, California. Chester was one of five pups, having two brothers and two sisters. They were all expected to help their breeders to scratch a living. Chester's brother PETEY, however, was a rebel even in those days and often used to wander off on his own.
In those days many actors, producers and animal wranglers used to pass through the village. One of these men was well known to the family as he would frequently return. His name was Hal Roach and he was seeking a pup to act in scenes with the "Little Rascals" in his "Our Gang" film comedies.
It became evident to Chester, even at his young age, that he was blessed with special gifts - gifts which neither his brother Petey, the rest of the litter, or his mother bitch had. Chester had a premonition that his brother Petey would soon be leaving home.
Petey, was chosen for film work, purchased by new owner/trainer Harry Lucenay, and went to great fame in the film industry, never to see his family again.
Chester could always sense his brother was happy or sad, even when they were miles apart. The owners took their four remaining pups and left California in 1936 to move to Massachusetts for work in shoe mills.
Decades passed, and Chester was incarnated again (as Chester the 9th) and born on Halloween 2000 . However, when his new owners could no longer care for him, he was sent to an animal shelter.
Madame Malvina, the descendant of an accused Salem Witch, adopted Chester and gave him a new home. She soon learned that her dog was highly clairvoyant and in communication with the spirit of his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great Uncle PETEY.

Rupert Sheldrake, author of Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home (Three Rivers Press, 1999), has concluded that there are three major categories of unexplained perceptiveness by animals:
