About me:
Chewie Films are Belfast based duo Richard Davis and Anna FitzSimons.
Richard studied animation in Norwich before moving to London to work on a The Brothers Quay production for Channel4, amongst other productions. Anna grew up in Canada and returned to Belfast to study applied art and then lens based media, during this time she worked on television productions with BBCNI. Richard and Anna met in 2004 while both attending separate residencies in Belfast and the seed of working collaboratively was sewn.
Their first project together was a music video commissioned by the BBC for Across the Line TV and from that came Chewie Films.
Whilst predominantly making music videos receiving airplay on MTV2 and BBC, their short films have been screened in Valencia, Spain at la Sala Naranja, and VIAIA, in London by the Halloween Film Society, Newcastle Upon Tyne at Animex International Festival of Animation, Cork Silent Light Super8 Fringe Festival, and at Belfast, Urban Eyes Festival.
They have finished a 2 year long animation project called Speedle's Tower with Seamless Productions, to be screened at festivals in the near future.
Richard has finished independent documentaries about the yearly Innishfree Festival (to be developed in the future) and Dublin band Party Weirdo throughout their tour of Eastern Europe.
Work continues with visuals and a music video for Skibunny, Lotion and Cat Malojian. Updates can be found at chewiefilms.com
