CHIASM
Chiasm is a solo female electro project from Detroit, MI created by Emileigh Rohn in 1997. The named comes from the greek letter "X", pronounced chi ("c" sounds like a "k" and rhymes with sky) and was chosen in relation to the crossing of optic neurons in the brain allowing us to have continuous and peripheral vision. In the same way, it was started at a time considered a point of "crossing over", and the project allows maintainence of a full and reflective view of the world as opposed to the narrow focus often encountered.
Classically trained in piano since the age of 5, she began writing songs and assembled a demo album, "Embryonic", which was self-released in 1998. In 1999, Chiasm was signed to COP International records, and the track "Chiasm" appeared on their compilation album "Diva X Machina vol. 3". The debut album, "Disorder", was released in 2001, featuring the track, "Isolated" as heard in the PC game, "VAMPIRE:The Masquerade-"Bloodlines" and the CBS television show, "Navy:NCIS".
Chiasm's most recent full-length album, "REFORM", was released in 2008, and an exclusive iTunes EP, "Apple Island", in 2009. She is currently writing and recording a new full-length album, "11:11" to be released in 2010. Her previous albums and EPs, "Disorder", "Relapse", "Prefrontal", and a remix album titled "Divided We Fall" are also available through COP International records and on iTunes and Amazon.com. Chiasm is known to perform in the midwest United States and remix and collaborate with other artists when the opportunity arises.
