About me: The Chicago Independent Radio Project (Chicago Indie Radio) will work toward securing a Low Power FM radio license for Chicago, should new licenses become available. Currently, bills have been introduced in both Houses of Congress that would allow for new frequencies to be granted in urban areas. We'll lobby Congress on LPFM issues and fundraise in preparation for applying for, securing, and building out a brand new station. We'll launch an online version of the station in the summer of 2009.
Who I'd like to meet: People who believe the true power of radio is in localism, diversity, adventurousness, and immediacy. People who are sick of mainstream commercial radio. Media activists. Cool music fans. Anyone who understands people don't just like to hear one type of thing on the radio. Those for whom an iPod is not enough.

Please note, while CHIRP is a non-profit, at this time we are not tax-exempt, so donations are not tax deductible. But they are greatly appreciated!
