If you want to be a Poetry Guide friend: 1) Be a local poet, artist or have a sincere interest in Chicago Poetry; 2) Have a myspace page with interesting content that doesn't take more than a minute to open; 3) You MUST send a little note about how you are connected to poetry with your friend request so that we know you are not a spammer; and 4) While in the Neutral Zone please respect the truce.
If your friend request is not accepted please do not take it personally but do continue to take advantage of the Poetry Guide. Our "friends" department is designed to showcase a certain theme. That theme is Chicago Poetry and by extension the local art community. Within that theme, everyone is invited.
Here is a listing of poetry calendars and resources across the country in case you plan on doing any travelling, courtesy of CJ Laity and ChicagoPoetry.com.
Welcome to the Chicago Poetry Neutral Zone! With over 700 myspace pages carefully screened and selected for inclusion in our friends section, please explore and learn about the Chicago Poetry Scene straight from the sources. CPG has become an important networking tool for those who take poetry seriously enough to have fun with it. Be down with CPG and meet each other, listen to each other.
Chicago Poetry Guide is a safe zone for Chicago poets and poets who love Chicago to get linked, post announcements, promote books and shows, or share a poem. You are in charge of the content. We've made the CPG friends a virtual who's who of poetry, so that everyone can discover your cool ass souls. Subcribe to our memepool for links to important poetry related articles and information from our bulletin board.
We don't claim to be the experts, so rather than sending the Poetry Guide a personal message about your event or announcement, please become a friend and then post a comment about it yourself. This is the Chicago poetry resource, a place where we can put our differences aside and support each other. Leave your baggage at the door and come right in and discover the wonderful world of Chicago Poetry.

Virgogray Press is an indie publisher, proudly making chapbooks and presenting the world with fresh poetry from genuine voices. We're just wanting to add to the many great works out there and are happy to be part of the literary movement! We are currently accepting manuscript submisssion for chapbook publication, but not for long. On Dec. 1, 2009, we will no longer be taking submissions for chapbook length manuscripts becuase we already have plenty of great poets to come in 2010, but we are still accepting general poetry submissions for other publications, so if you are a poet who wants to have your work published, or maybe wants others to read your work in the form of a publication, check out our website for details and maybe you can hop along with the Virgogray Press familiy, too!
Thanks again, and have a great week!!!
We just put up our entire catalogue-- go ahead and take a look!!

Prayer For A Friend
----------------------
I sent a prayer to God today
Because you are my friend.
I asked that He bring your problems
Abruptly to an end.
I prayed for resolution,
And for all your trials to cease.
But most of all, oh friend of mine,
I asked for God to bring you peace.
This is a compilation of some of the poets/spoken word artist that bless our mic every Friday on Poetic Flows. The order of this list was soley determined by voters that visited Beautifully Spoken's page
Thanks for accepting our friendship! Virgogray Press is an indie press with big dreams! Be sure to check out all of our publications and authors at virgograypress.blogspot.com and keep up with the latest news from the press at virgograypress.wordpress.com! We publish mostly poetry and proudly produce chapbook editions of writer's work! Right now we're also open to submissions of poetry. We're currently looking for poetry for our anthology series, which collects various opinions from the writing community by way of their poetry or prose on various topics. We've done an anthology called Valium which was about the psychological pharma industry and are getting ready to publish our next edition in November, a publication called "So It Goes," the topic being death for this chap. We're accepting submissions for Carcinogenic Poetry, an online poetry blog that will roll out in December! Do you have a chapbook manuscript you'd like published? We're accepting these as well, but not for long. Submissions will close by the end of the year!
Till then, stop by our official site and associated sites and get to know some of our authors: Marc Olmsted, A.J. Kaufmann, Justin Blackburn, Suzi Kaplan Olmsted just to name a few! And thanks again!!!

I know the Freedom Through Music project will break the glass for Poetry
and Spoken Word Artists everywhere. It will bring Poetry to the living
rooms of people all across the country and over seas. This album will
change how people view Poetry and Spoken Word and will be set as the
Genre of a new generation. Volume #1 set the foundation of our
organization. Volume # 2 opened doors and took Poetry Over Music
Internationally. Volume #3 broke records and caught the attention of
people everywhere stirring a Poetry uprising.
The way I came
up with Freedom Through Music, is I envisioned the essence of Spoken
Word and Poetry and what it can be. As a fan of Poetry, I understand
the power poets have with their words. Poets have the power to talk to
a young girl who is on drugs and make
