BLUES, FOLK, JAZZ, LATIN, NATIVE...etc... (music of the americas)... european folk & CLASSICAL... & African... Asian...etc... I love any and all sounds of music... (all cultural expressions of love and humanity)... And the real heroes of the world...The ones who speak up and speak out.
Like the classic Otis Spann song, Chicago Red came up the "Hard Way." Born on the westside of Chicago. Red began playing piano at the age of six, switching to guitar at age 12, & by 15 was listening to the music of the Chicago Blues scene. Seeing Muddy Waters & Howling Wolf perform, as well as meeting Louis Armstrong & Count Basie as a 10 year old had a lasting impact on his life, & gave him a passion for creating music of his own, while respecting the classic masters of the blues.
Red is a frequent guest playing on KUCI 88.9 FM. (Irvine/Orange Co.) & also appears on KPFK 90.1 FM. (Pacifica Radio, Los Angeles & Houston) or at 88.5 FM. KCSN (Los Angeles) KKGO (New Orleans) & BBC & Radio 2 (London, Bristol, Essex, & Cambridge)... and all over the UK ,locally and nationally... You will find him most often playing around Southern California, US.
His music is also played on Amy Goodman's nationally & internationally syndicated radio and television program "Democracy Now!"(over 800 stations) Red has lived in New Orleans and is currently based in Los Angeles as he sets up his next tour schedule... The blues can be learned, but in its purest, honest and most potent form it only comes through the pain of life and living, If you can survive. "Blues is life."
